BABYSITTING?

Here’s something that strikes me hard every single time I see it.

A father on Facebook says, “I’m babysitting my kids while they’re mom is doing [insert activity here]”

No, dude, you’re parenting. You’re being a freaking father. I don’t know why this bothers so much but it does. Mother’s are expected to spend time with their children but father’s can babysit. They are missing out on time with their friends or playing their games because they have to babysit the children they helped create.

Babysitting is defined as “To provide care for (a child) in the absence of a parent or guardian.” So you aren’t the parent or guardian?

End rant.
